Scanlon Auto Group is Hitting the Brakes on Cancer

The fight against cancer has been a long, open road, but Scanlon Auto Group did its part in making that journey a little faster. Our company joined forces with the American Cancer Society to raise funds for our friends and neighbors who are battling the disease.

On Saturday, October 23rd, the American Cancer Society hosted its 17th Annual Lee County Cattle Baron’s Ball, much to the delight of the entire community. It was held at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers. Eight Scanlon Auto team members took part in the joyous event, participating in a truly one-of-a-kind evening.

The night did not disappoint! From mouthwatering food options to boisterous dancing and a spectacular auction, there was a little something for everyone to enjoy. Great local bands–Gator Nate, The Last of the Gladezmen, & the Ben Allen Band–rounded out the charity’s live entertainment.

The merriment continued off the dance floor as well. Local companies, groups, and individuals had the chance to donate auction items for attendees to bid on. Big ticket auction packages included spa offers, jewelry, and much more.

For years, Scanlon Auto has made an appearance, in attendance and sponsorship, at the Cattle Baron’s Ball. The event has remained near and dear to our company’s heart and values. We’ve held great pride in being a part of such a prestigious event while aiding in the fight against cancer.

One-Hundred Years of Leading the Fight

For over a century, the American Cancer Society has taken a stand against cancer in communities across the United States. From 1991 to 2018, the U.S. cancer death rate dropped 31%, resulting in 3.2 million fewer deaths during that time.

Therefore, the American Cancer Society’s work is vital to not only our country, but to our community—to Lee County. And while the past year has been challenging, the organization continued to see progress being made in the fight against cancer.

The American Cancer Society has remained the nation’s preeminent cancer-fighting organization and is committed to moving us even closer to a world without cancer by continuing to build on this progress.

Standing Together Creates Change

Scanlon Auto Group’s support of the American Cancer Society, along with the continued and tenacious support of the community, has helped usher in an era where more people survive cancer than ever before.

Since 1991, the country has seen a 29% decline in cancer death rates. That’s through extraneous research and action by the American Cancer Society.
